[/justify]fawn could just keep running forever. sure, eventually she would get tired and have to stop, but it didn't stop her from picking up again and taking off. while she tended to keep away from people as a general rule when she felt restless, she didn't like taking the risk of anyone wandering too far away from the trail and seeing her while she was in a more dangerous form. there was something about being one with the earth that she just couldn't get enough of. she liked the feeling of dirt under the pads of her feet and her mind being free of the complications of human life. when she was out by herself like this, she could be one with her animal instincts and just enjoy. the most stressful thing that crossed her mind was someone catching sight of her. she knew perfectly well that if someone caught sight of such a large cat so close to civilization, it would turn all kinds of risky for not only her, but any other shifter in the area. there was a reason why she spent most of her time higher on the mountain where show dusted over the rocks and branches on trees. while fawn loved her pale hair the majority of the time, it made it a little more difficult to roam freely while she was in her animal form. typically white and black stood out from greens and browns.
she was more of a skittish creature in the first place, never liking to really be seen by anyone who could potentially be considered a threat in her eyes, but she grew even more wary of her surroundings the closer she got to the paths. most people weren't stupid enough to wander this high on the mountain side, but some of the braver people did on occasion. typically there were teenagers who would wander this far to be 'adventurous' or the few adults who were looking for the thrill of climbing the mountain. fawn was good about stealth for the most part, staying low enough to blend in the the smaller patches of snow around her or climbing high enough to where no one would look up and see her, but she could still see them. she'd rather be safe than sorry in most cases. stretching out over a lower branch lazily, fawn let out a silent yawn. she hadn't seen anyone wander under her hiding spot for at least a half hour so she wasn't nearly as worried as she could have been, but as usual, her guard was up. her ears were perked up and alert, listening for soft footsteps closer to her. weirdly, she smelled him before she saw him. he smelled refreshingly natural. not at all like most males who came wandering through smelling strongly of aftershave or leather, though she could only think of one person that smelled like leather more times than not.
this boy smelled faintly of mint and soap. maybe even a little like sweat, as if he was more of an active type than the type of teenager that would sit at home and play video games all day. there was something gentle about his scent. even the way he walked closer to her in such a unusually quiet way made her tilt her head with interest. warmth spread her body, sending an aching sensation through her body as she stretched out again, letting out a soft sound of curiosity and excitement as she changed from large beautiful feline to graceful blonde female. a large smile crossed her dry lips which she quickly wet with her tongue before wrapping her bare legs around the branch below her. she was waiting. there was a kind of excitement bubbling through her as she waited for the soft steps to move under her spot in the tree, a mess of brown hair appearing below her. he moved with confidence and while she tried to tell herself that it was stupid to sneak up on the boy, she didn't actually listen to reason. her eyebrows lifted as her eyes danced after him, taking in how much taller he was than her. it didn't seem to even settle in to her mind that this boy could have a major problem with being startled.
instead of lingering on any ideas for too long, fawn lowered herself from her thick branch and dropped to the ground silently behind him, cursing the boots she'd chosen to wear instead of her usual ballet flats. while she was sure that he hadn't heard her fall from the tree above, she quickly lifted her chin to study him moving ahead of her. fawn's smile pulled across her lips again in a friendly manner as she quickly moved along behind him. it took all the courage in her to lift her arm and tap the male on the shoulder gently, giggling in amusement as she saw him jump. "hi there." she greeted happily, her smile lighting up her whole face as she took a step back from the younger looking male. it was obvious that she was giving him space, though not much. her real question was: what was this boy doing?
